Looking for Accommodation
Posted by BiBer | Filed under Uncategorized
Hi there, new and current students. Are you having trouble finding a place to stay? Just leave a comment in this post and we’ll see where we can help. There also might be responses from some other new students. As far as I know there are 6 students searching for accommodation, it would be great if that could be sorted out.
For a quick start, here’s the website for the letting agent that offers student accommodation:
http://www.propertysolutionsuk.com/pages/index.asp
And don’t be shy to ask any queries, we’re here to help! =D

August 25th, 2008 at 7:29 AMHey we legend,
Most likely late september. I need to do my med check. Have you done yours yet? Visa ku lagiiiiii. Membari malas. Hehehe.
Are you doing postgrad or undergrad?

Zimah Hanis Says:
August 25th, 2008 at 8:03 AMooohhhhhhh~ there’s lots of UoB students tggal arah dakat bristol road, just outside UoB.. jantah d pershore road cam nya c ‘legend’ atu.. huhuhuhu.. masa ani ada 4 UoB students cari rumah, i can ask them if dapat cari rumah 5-bedrooms.

Huda A Says:
August 25th, 2008 at 8:09 AMmunawwir- there are 3 postgrads and one undergrad ging to UB who are still finding accommodation. i’ve contacted the undegrad sudah to ask how they’re progress is doing, pasalnya the postgrads in the process of cari rumah sendiri.
ada lagi a girl doing HND at BCU, she might want to live with bruneians, but not sure ah pasal her campus jauh jua.
check out the letting agent punya website. Dawlish Road is a student area and Selly Oak in general is close to UB. Pershore Road is where most Bruneians live, but is about 20-30 minutes walk to UB.
so have a look around first and see which you prefer. any updates we’ll keep posted.

WE Legend Says:
August 25th, 2008 at 9:05 AMpershore road 20-30 minutes walk from UoB..bagus utk kesihatan pasalnya exercise bejalan kaki..so ‘Pershore Road’ for better future! hehe..peace manisss! haha
munawwir..personally i think, yg baiknya dtg dulu ke birmingham and liat kawasan2 d bristol road and Pershore Road and barutah decide kan tinggal dimana..distance wise,of course lah d bristol road atu better pasalnya few minutes walk ke uni saja..but kalau mau selesa sikit and better quality and standard housing,d pershore road kawasan selly park=tempat tinggal kami masa ani..
u can wait for comments dari yg lain..

Munawwir Says:
August 25th, 2008 at 10:06 AMLet’s see… Hey legend, kalau ku akhir bangun, payah jua ku tu… Cana mun stangah jam kan ke Uni? Gerenti miss class tu bui… BUT you might be right..
Living in a nice house might help me get up early…OR SLEEP IN! I can’t decide. I’ll go google these places you mentioned. Then I’ll decide.
There is one more thing. I don’t know what any of these people are like. Know what I mean? Personality clashes abound. What if you think I’m an asshole? And I feel the same way? Living with each other for a year’s gonna be severely unpleasant… hehehe :p (Excuse my French… I’m prone to cursing. It’s just my humour…)
-
Azrul8 Says:
August 25th, 2008 at 10:49 AMhahaha..yatah beguna time management tu..my classmates yg tinggal d halls sebalah uni pun ada missed lectures..hehee
hehee..personality clashes? i used to think that way..but looking on the bright side, studying overseas ani is the opportunity to learn..and for me that includes learning abt other ppl..mustahil nada clash..mesti ada lah..whats important is how professional u handle the matter..
i know somebody who is prone to cursing..but in that house, everybody get along fine..=)
so dont worry munawwir,we are bound to meet alot more people..and that is very interesting..hehehe…
btw,ko main bula kah munawwir?hahaa..kami nda cukup org kan main bula..hahaha!
-
Huda A Says:
August 25th, 2008 at 11:01 AMyes munawwir, and if personality clashes worry you too much, you can always meet up beforehand. sama jua di brunei ani kan heheh. take a look dulu lah. so far in Birmingham there havent been any major issues regarding clashes among Bruneian students. misunderstanding sini sana atu adalah. and of course there are certain traits of everyone that we have to put up with. don’t worry, we’re all nice people at heart XD
-
Munawwir Says:
August 25th, 2008 at 11:07 AMCool man. I like that outlook on life you have Azrul. Very easy going. Pasal main bula… Main eh. Anak Brunei mana yang inda pernah main bula? Hehehe.
About personality clashes. Yeah, from what I’ve dealt with some seriously unsavoury characters in the past. I’m just being careful. Hehe. I’m generally laid back in general.
Anyway, let’s get down to the nitty gritty, shall we?
I’m 26, non-smoker, non-drinker, play guitar, WILL buy one when I get there (this is a warning for those who like peace and quiet) and last but not least antu game!!!
Sapa mau serumah sama aku?
-
Eena Says:
August 25th, 2008 at 12:33 PMmunawwir tinggal sama aku saja kau.
nah atu lakas ku booking. hahaha just kidding. sorry aku memang kurang malu…. n i’m prone to cursing to *hint*hint*… xD
by the way, aku tinggal dapan uni pun dulu but sama jua masih, ada jua miss2 lecture =P So distance don’t guarantee kerajinanmu untuk skulah pun. Next year i’ll be staying arah pershore so aku guarantee aku makin ‘rajin’ ke uni. =D bilikku basar ah di rumah kami!
becerita ku. =P
-
Munawwir Says:
August 25th, 2008 at 1:09 PMeena… you’re a girl right? I’ve had a bad experience living with a girl… She went psycho one day and decided to take it out on the housemates. You’re not like that are you? Hehe, I’m messin’ with ya.
But seriously, one offer already? SWEET! Bah, what now? What say you everybody? Deal or no deal? We gotta do coffee first. Mau?
-
Azrul8 Says:
August 25th, 2008 at 2:31 PMcool…ada few guitarists d birm atu..hahhaa…buleh jamming nie nanti..me,huda,tony and razan ada guitar..hahha…

nah..ada sudah org offer rumah..saves you the trouble mencari rumah..haha..trust me,you will like pershore better than bristol..hahaaha..

Lisyah Says:
August 25th, 2008 at 4:36 PMJust a suggestion.
Live in any of the Bruneian’s houses for a couple of days. Then find a reputable letting agent, do some house viewing, find something you fancy, take it. Btw, stay away from property solutions!!! Bad xperience with them.
Sometimes the rent doesnt justify the size of the bedroom. So better really look at your house before deciding to live in it.
Housemates? If your option of housemates are not limited to just Bruneian, finding a housemate would be easy. Bejurit manusia di Birmingham anie.
Btw, I have PS3 and you might want to add me to one of your potential housemates list just in case I dont get my university halls.

August 25th, 2008 at 10:03 PMJust to inform sapa2 yg interested:
Anyone who need a place to live in October maybe dalam 10th october kah or earlier..
ada 2 bedroom house/apartment, quiet place, 15-20mins walk to uni bham, at Odell place, Priory road, edgbaston.
Rent 600pound for 2 bedroom house basically 300each bedroom..[might include water].
Right now, Firdey n I book this house and will move to this place for one month [from 14 sept-13oct].
If anything, contact me: Za at zazy718@hotmail.com.
-
zazy Says:
August 25th, 2008 at 10:14 PMOh btw, advice from me and Firdey,
If the landlord namanya Mr Khan, bisai2 sikit sama ia. ia atu berbelit ckpnya…semua nda bleh n ada saja d tagurnya.
Harborne area about 30-40mins walk to Uni bham… which is quite jauh sal naik bukit in order utk sampai bham uni. but ada bus 44 which is free if u show ur id n pass.btw, munawwir ni ex SAS n md kah..
-
Munawwir Says:
August 26th, 2008 at 12:45 AMNah, kana jadikan umpan tia ps3 atu… Cis! Hahahaha.
My preferences… I want a house with the basic amenities lah kalau dapat. Inda ku payah mbali lagi. Ampit ku udah mencari washing machine di ozzie yo… Inda siuk memikul kedalam rumah. Barat…
I also cook…so a stove would be nice. Hehehe. And an oven too. I also find that living alone kinda sucks. Kalau sunyi banar depressing bah. Sampai menaung telinga tu sunyinya.
So in summary, a house with the basic amenities and housemates.
I’m currently talking to someone who’s looking for housemates too. Ia mencari geng lagi ni. So, that makes 2 people looking for housemates.
What’s the rent for 4 bedrooms houses over there?
-
Eena Says:
August 26th, 2008 at 6:43 AMmunawwir u can come cook in our house anytime u want, as long as you cook for semua. and i’m not kidding with this one. =P
btw rent usually starts from GBP50 per week per room. banyak tu rumah 4-bedroom above in birm. 3-bedroom, not so common. 2-bedroom pun banyak jua along pershore road atu.
if u wanna live at the city centre pun bleh jua, but then ure gonna have to use the bus to go to uni. manalah tau kan mau dekat kadai. rent for accommodations in city centre start from around GBP100 per week kali tu. ada The Heights, Studio 51, IQ5 etc. but they’re closer to Aston Uni lah tu. if mau yang dakat Birm Uni I believe there’s Opal.
i think ada lagi sorang going to birm uni still looking for a place, saiful hakimin. if u want his number just ask ok.

I agree with azrul and lisyah. Kalau datang awal or ur course start akhir , dpt jua round2 liat rumah mana yang bisai dulu.Puas kan diri dulu pasal location wise and the condition of the house. And if kan sama property solution, before signing any contract, make sure they provide you with everything sudah.Durang ani lambat sikit ni kan di minta2.Even deposit ku pun alum balik.hehe
Wah siok azrul, ada org main bola and antu game.. Ada tournament ni lagi.. hehe Best of luck to all of you. Ambil Quote si Mallie” semoga kamu berjaya dgn warna2 betrabangan” and sukses for future undertaking.

So, how’s this gonna turn out. Berapa orang masih mencari rumah? Ideally, 4 people right? Cos there’s lots of 4 bedroom houses…
-
Lisyah Says:
August 27th, 2008 at 2:18 PMOk lah. Inda jua ramai urg Brunei di Aston. Nyamak saja. *Buat muka* haha. Joking joking.
So basically, if u decide to join us, that would make four. Me, Yani, U and Kashful. Three Birminghams and one Aston. If u decide not 2, kami tinggal masjid saja, or bawah jambatan. As quoted by Yani. hehe.
My first avenue housemate, its nothing personal, I just want a bigger room. I got this feeling my other half will be coming to me soon. (Confident) Haha. Jokes bah.
-
Huda A Says:
August 27th, 2008 at 2:47 PMwell that’s settled. Lisyah sanggup tinggal di Selly Oak, kawasan near Bristol Road? hehe since majority of the housemates di UB jua kan.
glad that something’s come out of this. good on you guys

N there’s a huge park. it’s nice even in winter. If kan kcity, in front of ur house across the road ada bus stop sudah. N the area is bersih, peaceful, houses are in better shapes and conditions dsana. Sampai i don’t mind walking 30 min though i have to wake up early psl aku d medschool.

September 14th, 2009 at 1:05 AMLisyah, Fadz, Razan, how far is aston from the city centre?
-
Fadz Says:
September 14th, 2009 at 1:22 PMAston is IN the city centre (yay!) and it’s 5 minutes fast-walk from bullring/selfridges. I think its postcode is B4… so if cari rumah and the postcode is B1-B6 that should mean it’s close
ive seen houses/flats arah summerrow and it looks bisai and close. Some houses/flats kalau online will show u how far away it is from main train stations. Moor station and New Street Station are really in the city too. China town is also in the city (Hurst St i THINK!) and sana pun ada houses if kami sanggup jalan kaki jauh sikit (maybe 10-15 min walk to uni but banyak kadai so maybe inda kerasahan).. hope that is helpful! -

September 17th, 2009 at 8:13 PMHi Jajan. Yeap Yeap. Its either city centre or Edgbaston (broad street) or Aston area. Cause arah Aston ada 157 quids including bills. The house has 7 double bedrooms, 3 Extra rooms, 2 storage rooms. With a freaking huge lounge room. But I guess bibers sana sudah found places for the new intakes kan? 5 minutes to both Aston University and BCU. Kira in the middle.
And arah Broad street 300 including bills jua. Ampir Tesco metro yow rumah 300 ah. Comes with 20 MB internet and 40 inch LCD screen TV in the living room!!!!
